Prominent actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry Just made a new film contract with Amazon. The ‘Madea’ actor signed a 4 film contract with Amazon studios. Under this contract, Perry will write, direct and produce 4 new films for the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video.
Amazon Prime Video is available in more than 240 countries and various territories worldwide. The streaming service already has many movies from Perry’s filmography. “Daddy’s Little Girls,” “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family,” “For Colored Girls,” “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas,” and “Tyler Perry’s Single Moms Club”, are a few.
In an interview, Perry stated that he is very excited about the new deal and he is always happy to bring more quality content to the streaming service. He also said that he is looking forward to telling new unique stories and trying to take them to a global audience.
Amazon head Jennifer Salke praised Perry as “one of the most prolific creators of our times”. She added that the studio is excited to collaborate with Perry and bring his creative work to the worldwide audience of Amazon.
Perry is a very successful filmmaker which shows in his net worth which is valued at $ 1 billion. In 2021 he was honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award By the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences. Before that in 2020, he won the Governor’s Award for earning the Primetime Emmy Award for his outstanding achievements in television and his committed activities to bring the marginalized community to the front through his Perry Foundation Programs which is a philanthropic, employment and inclusion initiative.
Perry’s recent successes were “A Jazzman’s Blues,” “A Fall From Grace,” and “A Madea Homecoming.” which were released through Netflix. His Madea film series also found major success at the global box office.
A source states that his “A Fall From Grace” attracted over 26 million viewers in its first week on Netflix. His latest project is the ‘Madea Home Coming’ from the Madea franchise in which he also stars in an important role. Tyler Perry made a big screen appearance before this way back in 2005 in the movie “Diary Of A Mad Black Woman”
Amazon Prime Video has recently been trying to put together the best talents in the business for their viewers worldwide with new pictures and television deals. According to a source, Amazon Prime Video has confirmed releasing a suite of live-action television shows from the Marvel universe. This includes the new series ‘Silk: Spider Society’ which is also available on MGM linear other than Prime Video.
In 2021 Amazon entered into a 3 picture contract with actor and comedian Eddie Murphy, in which he will act in 3 films for the studio and also future original projects where Eddie will write, direct, and the possibility of acting in them as well.
Another major deal Amazon signed was with Hollywood actor Micheal B Jordan’s Outlier Society in 2021. So this deal with Perry seems to be the latest major deal Amazon has signed in.
