Looks like Mother Nature is not only punishing us with volcano eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis around the world but also trying to help overcrowded nations breathe a little. How? By creating new islands.
The new expansion took place in North Japan near the town of Rausu when a new bit of land appeared, 300m long x 10m-wide x 15m-high.
For Japanese scientists this phenomenon doesn’t look too extraordinary: dislocation of the Earth’s crust is based on plates (upon which Japan rests) so nature will always either add extra earth or drown the land.
Hopefully, Japan won’t be submerged, especially after the good news: scientific investigations believe that in less than 100 years Japanese people will be able to settle and live on this island. Also a number of similar islands are expected in the near future.
